front runner donald trump is. forecast to be the coldest iowa caucuses ever. voters will be battling dangerous sub zero temps with windchills as low as minus 40 degrees, to get out and caucus, take a live look at des moines, iowa, where the high today is negative one. >> trump is holding a virtual tele rally after canceling several rallies over the weekend because of the frigid weather. these could be make or break for ron desantis, and he's keeping his ground game going, crisscrossing the state with several campaign events. we have team coverage this morning with correspondents on the ground in iowa. let's start with the aforementioned kasie hunt in des moines. candidates taking the cold seriously. how are the campaigns adapting in the final hours? >> well, we're all just trying to get by. i spent a couple of minutes outside, and with the tips of my fingers exposed and i got to tell you, i think the feeling has been regained in them 10 minutes or 15 minutes after i walked back inside.

stent and it's this cold and that means you might have to stay outside for an hour or two or m you need to make sure you've got enough stuff in your car to keep yourself really safe. this is the storm that brought that cold air ushered in behind it. snow for the most part is moving off towards the east, but behind it, des moines k -16 degrees, that's your actual air a temperature. it's not the wind chill. feels like -41 right now in des moines. go up towards the north, feels like -40 in fort dodge. basically, everybody has this. and, by the way, there's about a foot of snow on the ground almost across the entire state, so a lot of snow on the ground to deal with this. want to show you this cold air has moved across areas of the south. look at this. right now feels like 8 in waco, 1 in dallas, it meals -- feels like -16 in oklahoma city. the cold area is going to stay in place at least until wednesday, temps are not going to get back above freezing, and we have a new storm, winter storm warnings in effect for

our fox weather forecast. rick: by the way, it's going to be at least a week before these temps get maybe even towards the teens or 20s. so we're going to be talking about a really proif longed period -- prolonged period. that cold becomes dangerous over time. this is how much snow is on the ground in the state of iowa. look hover ear --over here, there have been two storms that have moved through here this week, now we've got the cold temperatures solidly in place. air temperature, -16. wind chills towards that -40 range. so the cold on. go towards thinking about frostbite we're at times with the temperatures here maybe during the overnight hours and tomorrow tomorrowing as well where you can get frost bite in about 10 minutes. it's going to be very dangerous. now, this cold air has also settled in towards the south. temperatures feeling like the single digits for so many cases. to two to the north of oklahoma city, feeling like -15 tomorrow

within this party. not just a traditional candidate. and they think they can harness that. i suppose if you're nikki haley and you're looking at this in terms of the enthusiasm, you're trying to find something to look at that gives you a little bit of hope. a lot of what we find from these trump supporters is that their first-time caucus goers. that cuts both ways. these are people who are not necessarily part of the process technically, they're coming out to be new voters, maybe they're younger, maybe their new here, maybe they were politically disengaged. it creates a bigger universe of people for him to reach. i've talked to a lot of those folks here today, theoretically there's an opportunity to go more into the show unless into the voting. but all the trump supporters i've talked to since i got on the ground here in iowa have been telling me versions of the same thing. there's no temps are too cold for them to get in their cars and vote for him and caucus room on monday night. and i think that's what that polling is indicated and that's what we are looking like at this republican primary process, as it does get kicked off tomorrow night. >> thank you so much. one of the things that's been so stunning to me is the crazier things he says, the more people seem to embrace him,
