In 1992, MTV premiered a documentary series about seven young adults they’d cast to share a loft in New York City and who, as the intro promised, would “have their lives taped to find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real.” They wouldn’t compete in games for control of the apartment; they weren’t forbidden from leaving it; they weren’t shut in with their partners to work on their relationships; no one would get voted out at the end of each episode. None of the usual reality formats applied because there weren’t any; “The Real World” was the first exemplar of a new genre that would, over that decade, continue to grow until it eventually dominated the TV landscape for most of the ’00s (and continues to crowd out all other programming on MTV to this day). Q: Into the Storm,” a six-part docuseries that explores the origins of QAnon, will debut with two back-to-back episodes on
March 21 at 
9 p.m. Episodes will also be available to stream on HBO Max. The series will examine the evolution of QAnon in real-time and reveal how the anonymous figure known only as “Q” uses conspiracy theories and information warfare to game the internet, hijack politics, and manipulate people’s thinking. Additionally, “Q: Into the Storm” will examine QAnon’s influence on American culture and question the consequences of unfettered free speech permeating the darkest corners of the internet. HBO did not release information on from whom the docuseries comes, but you can watch a teaser below.

Variety has learned from sources.
As the project is still in the early stages, details are still being finalized, including which of the original cast members would return. However, sources say that longtime “Criminal Minds” showrunner and executive producer Erica Messer would return to work on the revival. As with the original series, CBS Studios and ABC Signature (formerly ABC Studios) would produce.
