Thursday COVID-19 coverage: CPS 14-day case rate continues to decrease


6:25 p.m.: CPS 14-day case rate continues to decrease
The Columbia Public Schools 14-day case rate per 10,000 people is at 9.2.
The updated CPS student tracker shows 143 students in the district currently in quarantine and 28 active student cases.
The district has seen 2,633 quarantined student cases and 626 positive student cases since June 2020. 
The updated CPS staff tracker also shows 17 staff members currently in quarantine and 4 active staff cases. Two staff members are out due to EFMLA laws.
The tracker also shows 35.3% of CPS staff members have been vaccinated, a 10% increase since Monday.
6:20 p.m.: Cole County adds 2 new positive cases
The Cole County Health Department will now show positive case totals by day, which reflects the date the specimen was collected instead of the date the results were received by the Health Department.

9:00 p.m.: CPS 14-day rate sees slight decrease
The Columbia Public Schools 14-day case rate per 10,000 people is at 18.5, a slight decrease from Wednesday's rate of 19.9.
The updated CPS student tracker shows 144 students in the district currently in quarantine and 16 active student cases.
To break the student cases down: 
Elementary schools: 93 quarantined, 8 positive cases, 13 out of 21 schools affected
Middle schools: 33 quarantined, 2 positive case, 5 out of 7 schools affected
High schools: 14 quarantined, 5 positive cases, 3 out of 4 schools affected
Other: 4 quarantined, 1 positive case, 1 facility affected
The district has seen 2,481 quarantined student cases and 593 positive student cases since June 2020. 
The updated CPS staff tracker shows 15 staff members currently in quarantine and 6 active staff cases. Two staff members are out due to EFMLA laws.
