ITHACA, NY -- The Ithaca Police have named Alan M. Godfrey, 32, as the victim of the shooting homicide on July 20. IPD said the shooting occurred in a well-traveled area in the 200 block of Taughannock Boulevard, and said they are working closely with the FBI, state police and Tompkins County Sheriffâs Office. According to police, they believe that Godfrey was specifically targeted and that this was not a random act of violence. Ithaca police are investigating a homicide that occurred around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Taughannock Boulevard and Buffalo Street. Officers said a male victim suffered gunshot wounds. Multiple police units remain at the scene investigating the crime. Police say they are not releasing the identity of the victim at this time. Police are telling people to avoid the area if they can and to call the police department if they have any information about the incident. ITHACA, NY -- Ithaca Police responded to the 300 block of West State Street at around 2:30 a.m. on July 17. A man said he was out for a walk when two people came up to him and attempted to reach into his pockets. The victim told them he had no property on him and to leave him alone. The victim was then struck in the head with a metal folding chair, according to police. The suspects fled without obtaining any of the victimâs property and the victim called for help. ITHACA, NY -- Ithaca police officers followed a blood trail back to their own headquarters after responding to a 911 call about a person who had been stabbed. Police were dispatched at about 3:25 a.m. on June 27 to the Southern Tier AIDS Program at 314 W State St. Officers didnât find a victim there, but found blood on the sidewalk that led back to the police station, where they did find the victim.
