Instead of waiting for world borders to reopen, Singapore needs to disrupt the status quo. For the tourism industry, the next big moves lie in sustainable travel solutions, technological innovation and holistic wellness.
This was highlighted by speakers at the opening of the Tourism Industry Conference yesterday.
Minister for Trade and Industry Chan Chun Sing said the tourism sector had faced disruption even before the Covid-19 pandemic.

SINGAPORE: Singapore is opening three new tourist attractions – including the US-based Museum of Ice Cream – even as global travel remains limited amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
The museum, popular with Instagram users for its rainbow sprinkle pool, will open in August at a 60,000 sq ft property in Dempsey.

SINGAPORE, April 7 – Three new tourist attractions will be opening their doors to visitors here in the coming months, including a popular New York attraction that will be making its first international foray. 
And the Government is also launching a tender for a new attraction concept at the vacant site between Somerset skate park and Killiney Road later this year, said Singapore Tourism Board (STB) chief executive Keith Tan today.

STB introduces Tcube platform to accelerate digital transformation

The Singapore Tourism Board has unveiled Tcube, an innovative space at Tourism Court that aims to help tourism stakeholders better their digital capabilities to reimagine visitor experiences and achieve sustainable operations.
On the reason for launching Tcube, or the Tourism Technology Transformation Cube, Ong Huey Hong, executive director industry technology transformation, shared: “We want to grow tourism companies into transformative leaders to compete better. We want to cultivate a community of innovators to chart new courses. And we want to facilitate partnerships between like-minded stakeholders to spur innovation through pilots and experimentation.”
Support will be provided through a three-step framework: learn, test, and build.
