The African Union has decided to suspend the participation of the Republic of Sudan in all of the organization’s activities, after a military coup on Monday saw its prime minister arrested and civilian government dissolved.
The African Union (AU) has suspended Sudan days after the country's military sacked its transitional government and took power.
The groups say although AU and IGAD provided initial public statements on the situation in Sudan, the statements were not strong enough.
Sudanese security forces detained three prominent pro-democracy figures overnight, their relatives and other activists said Wednesday, as internal and international pressure mounted on the country's military following its coup.
