Turkish Rescue Service Receives Japanese Award
Disaster management authority conferred with Japanese Ambassador Award for rescue activities after 2011 earthquake.
The search and rescue team of Turkey's Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) was conferred with the Japanese Ambassador Award for their assistance after the 2011 earthquake in Japan.
The ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of the quake was organized at the Japanese Embassy in Ankara.
AFAD Deputy Chairman Hamza Tasdelen and Bursa province's head Yalcin Mumcu along with the other officials attended the ceremony.
Japanese Ambassador to Turkey Kazuhiro Suzuki presented the award to Mumcu and thanked AFAD for its contribution to strengthening relations between Japan and Turkey.
