The product: Hudson’s Bay Fashion Fund
Why we love it: Last month, Hudson’s Bay announced it had committed to the Fifteen Percent Pledge Canada, a program led by the non-profit organization by the same name that asks major retailers to allocate 15 per cent of shelf space to brands by designers who are Black, Indigenous or people of colour beginning with the fall/winter 2021 season.

Controversy erupts for Suzanne Rogers after philanthropist posts photo with Trump

Ryerson University is also facing a wave of backlash for its handling of the criticism being levied at Rogers, who is an honorary patron of the university's Suzanne Rogers Institute of Fashion (SRFI) — a fellowship program devised to support emerging designers.
In a since-deleted statement on its Instagram page, Ryerson's fashion school called for "dialogue" with Rogers about what it describes as Trump's harmful impact on members of the fashion community.
"Our curriculum and culture at the School of Fashion actively works to challenge, resist and undo the values, structures and practices of white supremacy, exclusion and discrimination that we feel Trump actively enforced and executed during his time as U.S. Present," the statement reads.

Suzanne Rogers Donald Trump Photo at Mar-a-Lago Causes Fallout

On the morning of Saturday, May 1, Suzanne Rogers posted an Instagram Story posing with former U.S. President Donald Trump at his private club, Mar-a-Lago, in Palm Beach, Fla. Given that Rogers has positioned herself as the fairy godmother of Canadian fashion, members of that community reacted immediately with condemnations, citing Trump’s lack of support for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ people. In 2016, a $1 million donation from The Suzanne and Edward Rogers Foundation established the Suzanne Rogers Fashion Institute at Ryerson University to support emerging designers. Last November, the Foundation provided another gift of $1 million to the SRFI. But Rogers’ post seems to have trumped, so to speak, her previous financial goodwill.

PARIS — It was another hybrid fashion season in Paris, with a mix of live shows — with no audiences — and video presentations, but brands still managed to deftly relay their artistry through the screen.
Retailers expressed enthusiasm for the efforts, and the clothing, sensing an underlying streak of optimism amid the upheaval.
More from WWD
“We typically expect quite a bit of artistry in Paris, and it came through this season, in spades,” noted Justin Berkowitz, men’s fashion director for Bloomingdale’s.
Trends ran the gamut from sturdy outerwear for braving the elements to comfortable knitwear for elegance at home, and new must-haves included dressing gown coats, knit polo shirts and varsity jackets.
