Conversations about Carbon — 1st and 3rd Wednesdays — ONLINE – Advanced BioFuels USA

What are the Conversations about Carbon series?
Conversations about Carbon are biweekly virtual webinars. The goal is to bring people together over the lunch hour for an informal discussion on concepts and action surrounding carbon reduction, removal, and repair, and the role agriculture can play as a climate change solution.
The opportunities and challenges of carbon removal are unknown to many people. What are the technical feasibility, cost, and potential unintended consequences of carbon removal? We want to provide you an opportunity to talk with the experts and leaders in this field.
Our goal is to provide science-based information on how we move forward using agriculture to remove carbon from the atmosphere.

Live Green: Salisbury University

47abc
SALISBURY, MD– Salisbury University extends its students education beyond the classroom by teaching them how they can make a difference in their communities through various organizations on campus, like the University Sustainability Committee. Check out this week’s Live Green.
Salisbury University’s Sustainability Committee, composed of faculty, staff and students, gather to discuss how the university can reduce their carbon footprint.
“So, if you know if we want to do better, the first step was to figure out how we are doing. We created a process and enlisted the help of students from the business school. They started that process of collecting all the data and creating a report for that first carbon footprint evaluation,” said Wayne Shelton.

Proposed draft plan presented to SGA promoting sustainability

The University Sustainability Committee proposed a plan to raise USD’s Atlas score, a score evaluating how sustainable the USD campus is, at Tuesday’s SGA meeting. Anna Moore, Campus Recycling Coordinator and sustainability grad major, said the most important thing to get the program going is involvement and consistency.
USD’s current Atlas score is 36%. The average score on universities in the U.S. is between 40 and 50 percent, Moore said.
The draft Atlas plan consists of several suggested steps including zero waste orientation, standardized and paired bins, residence hall recycling and reuse stations, resourceful dining and construction and renovation.
