Here's how Hyundai Alcazar will expand seven-seater SUV segment

Here's how Hyundai Alcazar will expand seven-seater SUV segment
Updated Apr 12, 2021 | 17:08 IST
Hyundai Alcazar, unlike rivals like Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus, has a 150 mm-longer wheelbase than its five-seater sibling (Hyundai Creta). The seven-sester SUV also gets a new 2.0-litre petrol engine.
Here's how Hyundai Alcazar will expand seven-seater SUV segment
The seven-seater SUV segment has gained new importance in India over the last one year with the launch of vehicles like MG Hector Plus and the new-generation Tata Safari. Joining this list will be Hyundai Alcazar which was revealed recently and will go on sale here this month. Now, the Alcazar is the three-row version of Creta, just like Hector Plus is a three-row version of Hector while Safari is a seven-seater Harrier. But while the Hector Plus and Safari are derivatives of their five-seater siblings, the Alcazar, according to the South Korean carmaker, is quite different from Creta and will help expand the seven-seater segment in the country. Tarun Garg, Director (Sales, Marketing, and Service), Hyundai Motor India, while talking to Times Drive said that Alcazar isn't just a longer Creta with the third row of seats but more than that.

Before you ask for a Hyundai Alcazar India launch date -- unfortunately, the South Korean automaker is yet to share that piece of information about the car. Not to worry, we know plenty else about the upcoming Hyundai SUV in India, thanks to the spy shots that have surfaced on the internet over the past few months.

Hyundai has been readying the rival to the likes of Tata Safari and MG Hector Plus. Christened Alcazar, the seven-seater Hyundai SUV will be based on the second generation Creta. The carmaker had previously hinted that Alcazar's India launch will take place next month. The latest word on the street is that the seven-seater Creta will be revealed next month, possibly on 6 April. This will mark the new SUV's global debut followed by launch here a few weeks after that. In the build-up to the unveiling, we have spotted the three-row Hyundai Creta several times in the country. Suffice to say, we already know quite a lot of details about Hyundai Alcazar even though the South Korean carmaker hasn't shared official details, save for the name of the vehicle.
