Some Marin County residents are not happy about recently erected streetlights.
Residents in Greenbrae and Kentfield are complaining that the new 30-foot streetlights erected along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard over the past two months as part of an $18 million overhaul are too bright and too tall, according to a report in the Marin Independent Journal.
In response to the public outcry, county officials turned off 34 lights on 17 poles along the 2.2-mile stretch and may even remove the fixtures entirely. Now, the county is planning to hire a lighting consultant to come up with a new plan that will still meet the project’s safety goals.
