Yukon emergency officials are warning people to avoid fast-moving water and potentially unstable riverbanks in the Liard River basin in the southeast of the territory.

The threat of spring flooding remains high in several Yukon communities, according to the flood risk report released Thursday by the water resources branch of Environment Yukon. Hydrologist Holly Goulding emphasized in an interview the weather in the coming weeks will largely determine the level of risk. The Yukon government is hastily revising its vaccine rollout plan after being unable to guarantee one mass shipment of enough COVID-19 doses to inoculate 75 per cent of the adult population of the territory.
