While the number of active cases and COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to improve, Webb County passed another grim milestone on Monday: 800 deaths caused by COVID-19 over the last year. These deaths represent roughly 0.3% of the county’s entire population and 1.9% of all recorded positive cases in the area.

Vaccinatelaredo.com, the City of Laredo's online portal for COVID-19 vaccine appointments, has temporarily closed registration for its waitlist Thursday evening.
In a press release on the closure of the wait list released on Friday afternoon, the city outlined a future partnership with Curative to register appointments and administer the COVID-19 vaccine. Curative is the company which currently operates the free COVID-19 testing kisoks set up throughout the city.

Laredo City Council on Monday voted to take on several initiatives in COVID-19 vaccinations, including prioritizing qualifying employees of schools, reaching out to the elderly and people without internet and considering the implementation of a waiting list.
And on Tuesday evening, the city announced that it had received 5,000 additional first doses of the vaccine from the state. The city will open its appointment system Wednesday at 1 p.m. only for those who are age 65 and older. The public can make an appointment online at vaccinatelaredo.com or by calling 3-1-1.

The City of Laredo has received 5,000 more doses of the COVID-19 vaccine following a successful one-day distribution event on Monday, the city announced Thursday.
Their appointment system opens at 8 a.m. Friday through vaccinatelaredo.com or by calling 3-1-1, and the vaccines will be distributed Saturday, collaborating again with local school districts.
A total of 3,860 doses will be available, according to the city — 3,088 appointments via the website and 772 via phone. The remaining 1,140 doses will be allocated to volunteers helping with the distribution and neighboring government entities in Laredo’s hospital region.
