Over 52 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses provided to states, UTs so far: Centre

More than 52.37 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been provided to states and UTs so far and a further 8,99,260 doses are in the pipeline, the Union Health Ministry said on Sunday. Of this, the total consumption including wastage is 50,32,77,942 doses, according to data available at 8 am.

We can vaccinate one crore people in a day, this is definitely ambitiousÂ but not impossible, Chief Economic Advisor KV Subramanian said on Thursday, as country makes continuous efforts to ramp up the inoculation drive.
"India will be able to achieve vaccination for all by December. If we vaccinate people in three shifts each day, then, we can vaccinate 1 crore people in a day. This is definitely ambitious, but not impossible," Chief Economic Advisor KV Subramanian said.

India crossed a significant landmark in its fight against the COVID-19 pandemic after the cumulative number of coronavirus vaccine doses administered in the country crossed 18 crores on Friday, according to the Ministry of Health and Family welfare.

India has administered 14 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine in just 99 days, the fastest in the world, the Health Ministry said on Saturday. More than 24 lakh vaccine doses were administered on Saturday till 8 pm, the ministry said.
The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country stands at 14,08,02,794, according to a provisional report at 8 pm.
"India became the fastest country to administer 14 crore doses of COVID-19 vaccine in just 99 days," the ministry said.
The beneficiaries include 92,89,621 healthcare workers (HCWs) who have taken the 1st dose and 59,94,401 HCWs who have taken the 2nd dose, 1,19,42,233 frontline workers (FLWs) who have got the first dose, and 62,77,797 FLWs the second dose.

The two coronavirus vaccines that have been cleared for emergency use in India – Covishield and Covaxin – need the second dose to be administered within 28 days of receiving the first.
Data provided by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has revealed that out of the 61,54,894 healthcare workers vaccinated against COVID-19, only 97,732 beneficiaries have been given the second dose so far.
