Surat: Offline teaching started in a number of city schools for Class IX-XI under Covid-19 guidelines with 50% capacity from Monday. Sources said that about 75% of the students who had submitted their parents’ consent letters attended the classes in schools run by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB).
The students were strictly told to adhere to Covid-19 guidelines like wearing a face mask, sanitizing hands and maintaining social distance.
“I enjoyed meeting classmates in the classroom after almost a year. Attending a class offline after such a long time was fantastic,” said Daksh Ambaliya, a Class XI (commerce) student from Ashadeep School.

VNSGU started disaffiliation of eight colleges of which five are run by the SES, one by the Vanita Vishram Trust and two from Bardoli are associated with trust that runs Uka Tarsadia University
SURAT: Future of some of the oldest colleges of south Gujarat run by Sarvajanik Education Society (SES) hangs in balance as there is uncertainty over which university they would be affiliated to. Currently, these colleges are affiliated with Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) ever since they came into existence.
Now, with the formation of Sarvajanik University of SES, these colleges are gradually being disaffiliated by VNSGU as per government guidelines. However, the Sarvajanik University is not ready to give affiliation to these colleges without clarity on the issue of grants for salary and perks.

SURAT: Vanita Vishram Institution will be the first women’s university with the state Assembly giving sanction for seven private varsities on Wednesday. Vanita Vishram Trust currently runs four colleges with 3,000 students of which three are self-financed institutes that will be governed by university. "Ours is the only university for women in the state. We will provide job experience to our students while they study," said Ashwin Mehta, in-charge chairman of VVI.
VVU will offer exit plans to dropout graduation students. The students who complete the first year will get a certificate and for completion of the second year, the student will be given a diploma certificate. VVI has been running colleges for the last 22 years while it came into existence a century ago to support women in need.
