The British government will roll out coronavirus vaccines to youths nearing their 18th birthday and some 12-15-year-olds, with the door open to expanding the programme to younger children later in the year.
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) which shapes the Boris Johnson administration’s vaccine policies, made the recommendations, which have been announced in the House of Commons by government vaccines minister Nadhim Zahawi — with the JCVI reportedly open to recommending the vaccine more youngsters once the results of short-term Pfizer trials on children as young as two are announced.

Andrew Lloyd Webber: People Who Decline Vaccines Like Drunk Drivers

19 May 2021
Broadway composer Andrew Lloyd Webber has said that those who decline vaccines are “selfish” and similar to people who decide to drive drunk and kill others.
“I do think it’s selfish, because, I mean, look at it this way, I mean, you could just say, I would like to go out and have a drink tonight and drive home, and accidentally I kill somebody,” said the 73-year-old, best known for his work on musicals including
Cats and
Jesus Christ Superstar, in an interview with the BBC.
“Now, I mean, it seems to me that nobody’s going to go out and deliberately infect anybody with Covid,  but it’s completely wrong if we know the science. I was on the Oxford vaccine trial last year for this reason.

Blood Clots: UK Under-40s to Be Offered Alternative to AstraZeneca Vax

7 May 2021
Most Britons under 40 will be offered alternatives to the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine due to blood clot links, according to new advice issued by health technocrats.
Britain’s medicines regulator has recorded 242 clotting cases and 49 deaths out of 28.5 million AstraZeneca doses administered to people in the United Kingdom, according to the BBC — although the broadcaster indicates that the risk increases as the age of the vaccinated decreases:
The risk of a clot is roughly one in 100,000 for people in their 40s, but rises to one in 60,000 for people in their 30s. Two in a million people in their 40s died rising to four per million people in their 30s.

Benevolent Boris May Allow Britons to Hug Each Other from June: Report

Sources have told the
Telegraph newspaper that the Boris Johnson administration expects to give people the green light to hug each other from June 21st.
“From May 17 people will be able to meet indoors, and by June 21, we would expect that the vast majority – and hopefully all – those in priority groups one to nine [all over-50s] will have had both doses,” the notionally conservative newspaper was told.
“The thinking is that by this point people would be safe to hug, and that it then comes down to a matter of individual judgment,” the source added.

Australians in India Banned from Coming Home on Threat of Jail Time

Australians in India Banned from Coming Home on Threat of Jail Time
1 May 2021
(AFP) — People arriving in Australia from coronavirus-ravaged India could face five years jail as the country strengthens an earlier travel ban, the government announced Saturday, in a bid to prevent the outbreak from spreading to its shores.
From Monday, any traveller into Australia who has been in India in the past 14 days could face fines and jail time, adding to a temporary ban announced earlier this week, which will remain in place until at least May 15.
The threat came after travellers on indirect flights from India exposed a loophole in the government’s attempt to temporarily block arrivals from the South Asian nation.

Canada Halts J&J Vax Rollout After Violations by Maryland Manufacturer

1 May 2021
OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) – Plans to distribute the first 300,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson (J&J) COVID-19 vaccine in Canada next week are on hold after Health Canada learned part of them were manufactured at a Maryland facility that messed up the ingredients in 15 million doses bound for the U.S. market.
The Emergent Biosolutions facility in Baltimore was recently cited by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for violations including cleaning and sterilization failures, the potential for cross-contamination and failure to follow required protocols.
The FDA ordered the facility to stop making more J&J vaccine until the problems are corrected and the earlier mistake on the doses resulted in all 15 million being destroyed.
