Amid deteriorating air quality in Delhi-NCR, the central government on Sunday imposes a ban on non-essential construction work and the operation of BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel four-wheelers in the region.
The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has once again implemented the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) Stage III in the National Capital Region (NCR) as a measure to curb the increasing pollution levels. As per the new restrictions, BS-III petrol and BS-IV diesel vehicles will not be allowed to ply in Delhi NCR. This move is expected to lower the Air Quality Index numbers and improve the air quality in the region. At 10 am and 11 am on Sunday, the average AQI for Delhi was at 458 and 457, respectively.
