Offering encouraging messages and sending food and drinks were some ways Victoria Junior College (VJC) students did to help boost the school’s morale.
Led by Bhadran Rajesh, 18, president of VJC Students’ Council, the idea came after 95 students and eight staff members were placed on quarantine order as a result of an 18-year-old student who was tested positive for Covid-19 on May 7.
With the help of Writers’ Circle, the school’s student journalism and creative writing club, the council sent out an encouraging message via Instagram in hopes of creating a spirit of solidarity amidst the uncertainty.

SINGAPORE: Fourteen COVID-19 cases who worked in the highest-risk areas in Changi Airport had visited the food court at Terminal 3 for meals, said the Changi Airport Group on Monday (May 24).
The CAG announced on Monday that workers will be segregated based on their COVID-19 exposure risk and that only those who have been vaccinated will work in high-risk zones. This, among other measures, will be rolled out by Jun 14 when the airport reopens to the public.

SINGAPORE: The news that all primary schools, secondary schools, junior colleges, Millennia Institute and special education schools will shift to full home-based learning (HBL) from May 19 to May 28, though distressing to many, is probably not unexpected.
Worrying signs had already emerged in the first two weeks of May, with the announcements of full home-based learning (HBL) in Edgefield Secondary School, Victoria Junior College and a few others after each of these schools reported that small numbers of their students had tested positive for COVID-19.

On Thursday night, the Ministry of Education (MOE) confirmed the case and said it was determined to not be “a school-based infection” by the Ministry of Health as the student was infected from a household member.
In a note to parents that was seen by The Straits Times, the school said he was a close contact of an infected household member.
The pupil was last in school on Monday and was well. But the next day, he did not attend school as he felt unwell and consulted a doctor.

Changi Airport Covid-19 cluster originated from zone that received travellers from higher-risk places

SINGAPORE - Workers infected with Covid-19 at Changi Airport had mainly been working in one zone that had received travellers from higher-risk regions, including South Asia.
Transport Minister Ong Ye Kung said on Friday (May 14) that the airport identified this trend after studying the 20-plus initial infections at the airport cluster.
"Most (of these infections) in fact congregate around one zone," said Mr Ong.
"This is a zone with a finger pier that receives higher-risk countries' (passenger) arrivals, including South Asia."
A finger pier is an extension that juts out from the terminal, with its own gatehold lounges.
This zone includes the conveyor belt and immigration area that the passengers pass through, Mr Ong said during a press conference by the task force combating the Covid-19 outbreak.
