Meet Pradeep Rudra and Mayank Parakh of the on-screen NIA team in Nagarjuna Akkineni starrer 'Wild Dog'

Pradeep Rudra and Mayank Parakh
The actors who were part of the on-screen NIA team in the Nagarjuna Akkineni starrer ‘Wild Dog’, share their journeys from fitness and stand-up comedy to cinema

For emerging actors cast in supporting parts, the challenge is to make an impression even when the focus is more on the protagonist. In writer and director Ahishor Solomon’s Telugu film
Wild Dog, which stars Nagarjuna Akkineni as an NIA (National Investigation Agency) officer leading a mission to nab a terrorist responsible for a series of blasts across India, the actors who were cast as his team members — Ali Reza, Prakash Sudarshan, Pradeep Rudra and Mayank Parakh — also got noticed.

The real-life incident of Yasin Bhatkal has inspired Oopiri & Maharshi co-writer Ahishor Solomon to pen a story and make his Telugu debut. Nagarjuna, who is always open to experiments, has donned the role of NIA officer who risks his life. Though the terror-backdrop investigative thrillers are done to death, the real-life inspired story gives this one an authenticity. Is that all enough?
What Is It About?
Vijay Varma (Nagarjuna) is an honest and sincere NIA officer. He is a law unto himself who is famous for fake encounters and killing the culprits. This makes him and his team distance from the NIA. Situations force Vijay Varma to take up the challenge of cracking Pune Bakery Bomb Blast. Operation Wild Dog is headed by NIA Officer Vijay Varma and his team hunt down terrorist Khalid Bhatkal who is hiding in Nepal. Khalid is backed by an influential local MP and his political force. This makes it hard for Vijay & team. Can Operation Wild Dog succeed?

Wild Dog Movie Review: A reasonable film with admirable technical quality

Wild Dog Movie review: A reasonable film with admirable technical quality
Movie Title: Wild Dog
Director: Ahishor Solomon
Rating: 3/5
A terror mastermind who knows no mercy, and sees the sluggish Indian justice system as a circus. An angry cop whose trigger-happy instincts can spring up at any moment. And his team is powered by patriotic men who will not think twice before taking up the riskiest secret mission, that too in a foreign land. Writer-director Ahishor Solomon, who sets 'Wild Dog' in the late 2000s, creates a fairly invigorating premise and enriches it with characterizations. Largely staged as an action-drama wherein the investigative tracks feel like somewhat of a footnote, this Akkineni Nagarjuna-starrer taps into the immense talent of its brilliant technical team.

Wild Dog review:
Wild Dog is based on a real covert operation in which a specially formed team nabbed the terrorists behind several blasts that occurred across India, including the 2007-Hyderabad twin blasts.
Vijay Varma (Nagarjuna), a National Investigation Agency (NIA) officer under suspension, is asked to join back the services to lead an impossible mission to grab the terrorist who is the prime suspect in the serial blasts. He and his team commence ‘Operation Wild Dog’ to nab the brutal terrorist who’s hiding in Nepal.
