"Maharashtra had the highest share of 24.25 lakh tonnes, followed by Uttar Pradedh, which has produced 22.11 lakh tonnes. Karnataka is at the third place with production of 16.95 lakh tonnes of sugar," said ISMA in a media release.
“Govt allowing one-third of capacity that is allocated, probably this will be met within a few days. It will be done before January and even before that, depending on capacities of various units. Some of them may reach it in the first week of January, some by the second week of January. After that, based on the actual data, the government may allocate some more quantity.”
