Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], March 9 (ANI): Hemalata, the woman who was allegedly beaten by former Union minister Ashok Gajapati Raju, on Monday denied any such incident having taken place and accused the YSR Congress of twisting the matter and spreading fake news.
"An Arti thali caught fire and he was just dousing the fire on that plate," the woman said. She alleged that YSR Congress members are twisting the matter and speading wrong news.
Gajapati Raju speaking to ANI over phone, said, "I tapped an Arti plate which was in the hands of a woman and did not manhandle any woman."

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 21 (ANI): TDP leader and former minister Kimidi Kala Venkatrao who was arrested yesterday, was released by the police late last night.
Kimidi Kala Venkatrao was arrested from his residence in the Rajam town, Srikakulam district yesterday, in connection with a clash between YSRCP and TDP workers in Ramateertham earlier this month.
According to the police, On January 2, Rajyasabha MP Vijayasai Reddy had filed a complaint at Nellimarla Police Station and Kimidi Kala Venkatrao Venkatrao was included as an accused in the case.
Venkatrao has been arrested in connection with the case of a scuffle at Ramateertham on January 2. On that day, TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu and YSRCP MP Vijayasai Reddy had visited Ramateertham Lord Ram temple where the almighty's idol was desecrated.

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 7 (ANI): Heavy police deployment was made at Ramatheertham in Andhra Pradesh's Vizianagaram district on Thursday to quell possible protests in connection with the desecration of idols in the state.
Over the last few days, several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders including General Secretary P Vishnuvardhan Reddy, party president Somu Veerraj, Nagothu Ramesh, Bhanuprakash Reddy and Member of Parliament GVL Narasimha Rao were detained by the police while they were protesting.
On Monday, state Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao had urged BJP leaders to withdraw their proposed rally at Ramateertham as an investigation was underway to look into the incident and announced that a new idol would be installed there.

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 7 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata PartyAndhra Pradesh President Somu Veerraju fainted in a scuffle with police, who was trying to detain him, at the Ramateertham on Thursday.
A tense situation prevailed at Ramateertham as many Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders tried to visit the temple and were later detained. Veerraju fainted during a scuffle with the police.
BJP leaders Nagothu Ramesh and Bhanuprakash Reddy were also detained by the Andhra Pradesh police.
In a controversial remark, Ramesh said that the persons who vandalised the idol will be beheaded.

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 7 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) general secretary P Vishnuvardhan Reddy was admitted to hospital on Thursday after a scuffle with police when he attempted to cross barricades to reach the Ramateertham temple.
When the police obstructed him, the BJP leader fell to the ground, suffered injuries and felt suffocated. He was taken to the Vizianagaram Maharaja Government Hospital and his condition is stable. The doctors decided to send him to the Visakhapatnam hospital for better treatment.

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 6 (ANI): A local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker attempted self-immolation on Wednesday during a protest outside the Vizianagaram district collector's office.
The protest was held against the arrest of state BJP president Somu Veerraju and other leaders who were undertaking a 'Dharma Yatra' on Tuesday against the vandalisation of Lord Rama idol last week by unknown miscreants.
The police rescued the worker, Abdul Adil, who had poured petrol over himself and shifted him to a hospital.
Slogans were raised at the protest against the state Endowment Minister Vellampalli Srinivas.

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], January 2 (ANI): A tense situation prevailed at Ramateertham with ruling and opposition party leaders visiting the place where Lord Ram's idol was desecrated a few days ago.
YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MP Vijayasai Reddy visited the place prior to the arrival of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief N Chandrababu Naidu. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLC PVN Madhav also went to the sacred site. In this wake, heavy police force has been deployed in the area.
Vijayasai Reddy went up the hill on foot. He visited the temple and pond in which broken parts of the idol were found. He spoke to the temple priests at the sacred site.

Vizianagaram (Andhra Pradesh) [India], December 20 (ANI): Two women, who were collecting waste material at the dump yard near the mine area here lost their lives after debris fell on them.
The incident took place near Duvvam village in Garividi Mandal of Vizianagaram district at around 6 pm on Saturday evening.
Speaking to ANI, Garividi sub-inspector Narayana Rao said that Adilakshmi (55) and Kotla Suridamma (50) went to the dump yard near the mines to collect some waste material.
"The soil debris fell on them and the two women trapped under the soil and died. The police rushed to the spot and pulled the bodies out with the help of an earth mover. The bodies are later shifted to govt hospital," he said.
