The CIA Used to Infiltrate the Media

(Gerd Altmann from Pixabay) /
Back in the good old days, when things were more innocent and simple, the psychopathic Central Intelligence Agency had to covertly infiltrate the news media to manipulate the information Americans were consuming about their nation and the world. Nowadays, there is no meaningful separation between the news media and the CIA at all.
Journalist Glenn Greenwald just highlighted an interesting point about the reporting by
The New York Times on the so-called  Bountygate story the outlet broke in June of last year about the Russian government trying to pay Taliban-linked fighters to attack U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan.

The CIA's Operation Mockingbird has succeeded beyond the wildest dreams of any Soviet propagandist Back in the good old days, when things were more innocent and simple, the psychopathic Central Intelligence Agency had to covertly infiltrate the news media to manipulate the information Americans were consuming about their nation and the world. “One of the NYT reporters who originally broke the Russia bounty story (originally attributed to unnamed ‘intelligence officials’) say today that it was a CIA claim,” Greenwald tweeted.
“So media outlets - again - repeated CIA stories with no questioning: congrats to all.”

U.S. Gov't. Walks Back Lie Against Russia, But Says that Russia Must Be Apologizing – The Greanville Post

The dean of the American media lying a viva voce. But who cares? There are no penalties.
The beneficiaries of this scam are called America’s “Deep State,” and they rule here no matter whether serving Republican Party billionaires or Democratic Party billionaires.
On April 15th, the Biden Administration, which has been saying that Russia probably placed a “bounty” on corpses of U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan, said that, actually, “U.S. intelligence only had ‘low to moderate’ confidence in the story,” but “This information puts a burden on the Russian government to explain its actions and take steps to address this disturbing pattern of behavior.” For good measure, the U.S. Government has now added yet more sanctions against Russia.

The 2020 story was explosive. Vladimir Putin’s Russia was placing bounties on the heads of American soldiers in Afghanistan. The liberal media went crazy. Congressional Democrats — and more than a few Republicans — held hearings, and declared that more oversight of Donald Trump was in the national security interest of the United States.
White House reporters, already fixated on the 2016 Russian collusion hoax, pushed press secretary Kayleigh McEnany daily over Trump’s lack of response to U.S. Intelligence reports and why Trump refused to confront Putin, if not take retaliatory action.
Just one problem.
As reported by Fox News on Friday, a senior Biden administration official said Thursday the intelligence community only had “low to moderate” confidence in the Russian bounty story, meaning it is unproven and possibly untrue, due to a reliance on “detainee reporting.” The revelation came as the administration announced a new series of sanctions against Russia for a host of reasons, but the bounty story was not among them.

The US intelligence community on Thursday “walked back” their claim that Russia put “bounties” on American troops heads in Afghanistan.
Their BS claim was used to pressure Trump not to pull out of Afghanistan. Trump rightfully dismissed the story as a “hoax” but kept our troops in Afghanistan and only made a largely meaningless commitment to pull out during the next administration on May 1st.
Biden blew off the May 1st commitment but on Wednesday he announced he intends to pull out of Afghanistan by September 11th.
