The Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit reported on Saturday 11 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

Since the pandemic began last March, 1,783 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Haldimand-Norfolk, with 1,606 of those resulting in recovered cases.
There have been 39 deaths in the communities from the virus and five people who had tested positive but died from complications attributed to other illnesses.
As far as area vaccinations are concerned, 24,638 doses have been administered in Haldimand-Norfolk with 1,787 of those completed.

That’s a drop from the 40 reported on Thursday and the lowest number of daily new cases reported this week.

Six people are receiving treatment for COVID-19 at Brantford General Hospital.
Brantford-Brant has now had 2,017 confirmed cases of COVID-19 since the pandemic began more than a year ago. Of those, 1,829 have been resolved.
Fourteen local deaths have been attributed to COVID-19.

Since the pandemic began a year ago, the area has recorded 1,732 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 1,656 have been resolved.

The Brant County Health Unit on Thursday reported 19 new cases of COVID-19 in the previous 24 hours.
That is almost double the 11 cases reported for the first two days of the week.

The number of active cases rose slightly to 60 on Thursday from 54 on Wednesday.
Since the pandemic began a year ago, the area has recorded 1,721 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 1,648 have been resolved.
Thirteen local deaths have been attributed to COVID-19.
Currently, four COVID-19 patients are being treated at Brantford General Hospital.
As of Thursday, 45 variants of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the community. The health unit website is reporting 37 cases that have the N501Y mutation with the presumed lineage of B.1.1.7 (UK) and eight cases having both the N501Y and E484K mutation. At the beginning of March, the health unit reported just two variant cases.

Following last week’s increase in new COVID-19 cases, Brantford and Brant County are on track for a reduced number of positive cases this week.

That brings the total cases reported in the first two days of this week to 11.
For the week ended March 21 there were 74 positive cases and there were 88 cases for the week ended March 14.
The total number of active cases also continues to decline. Currently, there are 54 active cases, down from 73 on Monday and 62 on Tuesday.

It was better news on Wednesday in terms of the number of new local COVID-19 cases being reported.
After announcing Tuesday 17 new cases in the previous 24 hours, the Brant County Health Unit on Wednesday added eight new cases. The number of active cases also dropped to 89 from 97.
