and snow piling up over the sierra moving toward the rockies and some energy will give us potential for a coastal storm for the east coast this weekend. there is rain forecast for the western u.s. that snow is going to spread inland. here is forecast for today, fairly quiet. west coasts, first storm system this new year and area of low pressure for parts of texas. area of low pressure off coast of east coast bringing blustery conditions, nothing too severe yet. active pattern taking shape for lower 48 as storms move into the west and travel across the south and potential for development of coastal storms that could bring some snow to areas that have not seen snow in hundreds of days.

in hawaii president biden promises more aid as the anger rises over the initial response. and communities across the western u.s. clean up from tropical storm hilary, and another powerful storm is barrelling towards texas right now. we begin this hour with the latest on the legal troubles surrounding former president donald trump. two of trump's 18 codefendants in the georgia election interference case surrendered themselves to authorities in fulton, georgia. trump's attorney, john eastman, surrendered himself hours after the codefendant, scott hall, who accessed voting machines and data in coffee county, georgia, turned himself in. this as donald trump says he will travel on thursday to surrender to authorities. that news came hours after his
