Casey Owens, pleaded guilty to a count of murder in the Dec. 22, 2017 slaying of 38-year-old Landon Terry at Owens' ex-girlfriend's residence in South Lubbock.

Lubbock jurors deliberated for about an hour and 10 minutes before returning with their verdict sentencing Chance Copeland to life in prison.

Before handing down Chance Copeland's life sentence for murder, Judge William Eichman in the 364th District Court on Tuesday told the 32-year-old that he believed he didn't intend to shoot and kill the woman driving the SUV carrying three other people two years ago.   However, Eichman told Copeland, who did not testify during his seven-day trial, that he believed the evidence showed that he intended to kill at least one of Oden's passengers.
