Right now, category 2 storm, but we tell people don t pay attention to the category. while it s important, you can get a lot of damage with storms that are not a 4 or a 5. this is a category 2. 105 miles east of ft. pierce, florida, with 110 mile per hour winds. and now its forward speed moving northwest at two miles per hour west palm beach all the way up past charleston. we ve got hurricane watches all the way to cape hatteras. inland we ve got tropical storm watches as well. that speaks to the size, the growing size of the storm. even though it s in a sense weakening down to a category 2, it actually its wind fields are growing. in fact, here s the official path from the national hurricane center. by thursday morning, it is a category 2 storm just outside of charleston. then cape hatteras by friday ....

Chief, thank you very much for joining us. what s the greatest risk to life when this hurricane hits? wolf, thank you. the first thing everybody speaks about is the wind and the wind fields are potentially damaging. this is true. and could cause some serious injury potentially. but really what we found in all of the storms that we ve responded to through our federal task force is that water is the greatest hazard that we see. that could be water due to storm surge. it could be water due to rain. but it could also be impacted by what we re experiencing now in miami which is a ting tide which is higher than normal water level. what sort of preparations are you taking right now? preparation for us in miami is actually a year long event. we prepare throughout all seasons. the reason we do that is because we know the importance or recognize the importance of being extremely capable when ....

Wind fields here. where you see that purple, 60 miles an hour. where you see there s no color, that s in excess of 100-mile-an-hour winds. then we look at tuesday and they re saying they shut down the public schools already for the beginning of the week in many sections of georgia because, frankly, there s a lot of uncertainty as to what will happen with category 4 hurricane irma. there is still this tornado watch out for the most dynamic part of the hurricane right now. this is very typical. and there is almost this east/west component where some of these stronger bands are coming on shore. but what we were looking at earlier, there you can see already in key west, we ve seen winds in excess of hurricane force, 83 miles an hour reported at key west. ....

Covered a lot of hurricanes in the past. what makes this one different? well, it s absolutely the strengthening coming inland. we felt with hermaine and matthew last year. it was a category one, category two type system. this one being a major hurricane, the wind fields are wider and storm surge begins earlier. so you are getting impacts for a longer period of time. this is also forecasted to stall out and put catastrophic flooding in some of these areas. very different animal. we have heard of some people who did not obey those orders to evacuate. in fact, in a couple minutes we will speak to a family that did just that. you said the roads have been mostly clear. but have you seen evidence of people who did not listen to those warnings and are holding out? brett, do we still have you ....
