Michael Keaton Will Play Batman In The Flash, Publicist Says
Criminals don't even believe Batman exists, and we weren't sure if he'd show up in The Flash either--until now.
Rumors have been swirling since last June that the upcoming Flash film is set to go the way of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, with two version of Batman appearing in the film. After speculation and some recent doubt, Keaton is now set to reprise his role as Batman in The Flash, according to TheWrap.
Michael Keaton's talent agency, ICM Partners, confirmed to TheWrap that Keaton will indeed appear in the film. While rumors started back in June, Keaton himself threw all that into doubt in a March interview with Deadline. There, Keaton said the "COVID situation in the UK" would "determine everything." The actor said that the pandemic was informing all of his decisions for upcoming roles.

This year’s supremely strange Academy Awards are about many things. The rise of streaming services. The long-overdue recognition of diverse artists telling diverse stories. The absolute upside-down disruption of Hollywood business. But there is another, knottier issue hiding in plain sight: China, and its iron grip on the future of filmmaking.
For the first time in more than five decades, Hong Kong television station TVB will not air this year’s Academy Awards, following a move last month in which Beijing ordered media in mainland China to not broadcast live coverage of the April 25 gala. And on Douban, China’s massive cultural-centric social networking service, any mention of the 2021 event has been wiped clean. Essentially: this year, the Academy Awards do not exist in China.

Zack Snyder Explains Why Darkseid Banished Steppenwolf In Justice League

Zack Snyder Explains Why Darkseid Banished Steppenwolf In Justice League
It wouldn’t be a stretch to claim that the theatrical edition of
Justice League boasts one of the worst villains ever seen in a big budget comic book blockbuster. Steppenwolf is literally a hulking beige blob of nothingness, and poses virtually no real threat to the titular team in the slightest, with his muddy motivations and on-the-nose agenda ultimately seeing him devoured by his own Parademons in fittingly underwhelming fashion.
Not only did the bad guy get a flashy new redesign for the Snyder Cut, though, but he was a much more effective presence as well. Admittedly, he was still far from a terrifying or even memorable one, but it was definitely a better representation of the character nonetheless. Darkseid’s minion was essentially cast as a low-level employee working for a company that specializes in attempting to enslave the universe. Having been demoted, he holds several virtual meetings with middle management’s DeSaad in an effort to speak to the boss who isn’t willing to take his calls, so he decides to put in the extra work on his own dime to convince the boardroom that he’s worthy of getting his old job back.

The films redefining the American experience

The films redefining the American experience

From Nomadland to Minari, the films dominating the Oscars this year are a clutch of powerful social dramas that are helping to redefine the US. Caryn James assesses this shift.

Former political radicals, the economically dispossessed and beleaguered immigrants are the faces at the centre of this year's dynamic Oscar frontrunners – an unexpected silver lining to an awards season upended by the pandemic. Conventional wisdom says that during times of crisis, such as the Great Depression, moviegoers want escapism. But almost all the franchise-action movies set for 2020 were delayed, and among the few big-budget films that arrived even Tenet and Wonder Woman 1984 fizzled out. Instead, the year has given us powerful social dramas that redefine the American experience with clear-eyed, 21st Century realism.

In a recent interview, Israeli actress Gal Gadot revealed that she had looked up to Princess Diana to inspire the kind of Wonder Woman she had wanted to portray on screen. The Justice League actress said that she found inspiration in the people's princess, who is still known for her empathy and compassion. How she wanted to be the queen of people's hearts more than the real queen.
"I remember watching a documentary about Princess Diana and there was a part where they said she was full of compassion and always cared for the people and that was like, 'Ding, ding, ding,' that should be the Wonder Woman we have," Gadot said while appearing at the virtual event of Vanity Fair.

Gadot, who rose to fame with the 2017 superhero blockbuster Wonder Woman, is not new to the conversation around pay disparity. After the film’s box office success, there were stories that the actor was paid less than what her male counterparts earned in similar roles. It reignited the debate around the gender pay gap, something that several female Hollywood actors– from Jennifer Lawrence, Salma Hayek to Emma Watson– have spoken about.
