Dr Xavier Jayakumar has resigned as a vice president and member of PKR, after being with the party for 23 years. In a statement on his Twitter page, the former minister of land, water and natural resources said he would be serving his constituency with immediate effect as an independent representative while supporting the government.

PKR veep also says he is extremely saddened by Xavier Jayakumar's defection.
