The Croatian side are the rank outsiders in the competition, but after coming back to stun Tottenham Hotspur in the last round, they can’t be discounted.

Tom Dulat
#7 Granada

Where they stand: 7th in Serie A
Highlights: Roma 3-0 Shakhtar Donetsk (2 mins)
Possible line-ups
Roma: Pau López; Mancini, Cristante, Ibañez; Bruno Peres, Villar, Veretout, Spinazzola; Pellegrini, Pedro; Džeko
Expert predictions
Derek Brookman, Ajax reporter: Ajax struggled against Serie A opponents in the UEFA Champions League group stage, taking only one point out of six from Atalanta. But they have since rediscovered their European swagger, winning home and away against both LOSC and Young Boys, so will be confident of extending their run against Roma.
Vieri Capretta, Roma reporter: Having scored at least two goals in all of their UEFA Europa League knockout games this season, Roma will be confident of getting at least one crucial away goal. Paulo Fonseca's side play an attacking brand of football, with the right mix of quality and physicality, and if they stay balanced they can return from Amsterdam with a positive result.

Unai Emery won the Europa League in three consecutive years with Sevilla and took Arsenal to the 2019 final. When he was appointed by Villarreal last summer he said he dreamed of winning a trophy with a club that has been one of the most consistent in Spain in the last 15 years, with nine top-five finishes in La Liga. There have been four European semi-finals too, but they have never won a major trophy or reached a final.

Europa League - Round of 16 First Leg - Ajax Amsterdam v Young Boys
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - Euro 2020 games in Amsterdam are expected to be played with at least 12,000 spectators in the stands, the Dutch football association (KNVB) said on Wednesday.
The Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam could be used at 25% of its capacity or more in June, depending on the state of the COVID-19 pandemic, the KNVB said in a joint statement with the Dutch government and the city of Amsterdam.
The exact amount of fans allowed in will be determined at a later stage by the Dutch government, which on Wednesday warned that a large COVID-19 outbreak in the weeks before the tournament could still mean that the audience would be reduced.

The quarter-finals of the Champions League and Europa League kick-off this week, with all eight first leg ties across both competitions taking place between Tuesday and Thursday.
Among the most intriguing clashes are repeats of the 2018 and 2020 Champions League finals between Real Madrid and Liverpool and Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain respectively, as well as Arsenal battling a dangerous Slavia Prague side and Manchester United taking on Granada in their first ever season participating in European competition.

USMNT Number #9 Power Rankings: The Top 10

The U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team powered through two friendly victories last week powered by names we hope to see and hear for the next decade.
But the forward position is still a question mark. One that I’d call... a question mark necessitating arbitrary rankings. So here we go. Let’s rank the number 9 position.
The Metrics:
This list is for the USMNT senior team and pretends the squad begins a tournament one month from the time of publication.
This list isn’t trying to predict who Gregg Berhalter will pick. Though it does consider it.

Northern Ireland v USA | Match preview

Northern Ireland will be going all out for victory against USA
Northern Ireland will be playing to win when they face United States of America in Belfast today, according to senior men’s team manager Ian Baraclough.
The game at the National Football Stadium at Windsor Park (5.05pm kick-off) is listed as a friendly but Baraclough insists there is no such thing as a friendly in international football any more.
And the Northern Ireland manager is keen to bounce back quickly from the 2-0 defeat to Italy in a World Cup qualifier in Parma on Thursday.
He told a press conference yesterday that he will not be taking the game lightly and nor will his players.

Christian Pulisic, Gio Reyna score in 2-1 friendly win over Northern Ireland
There were plenty of positives to pull out of the U.S.’s 2-1 win over Northern Ireland on Sunday.
Stars Gio Reyna and Christian Pulisic both scored, and Pulisic played especially well in a free role in attacking midfield.
“Forget about all the great stuff he does on the ball, he just competed today,” U.S. coach Gregg Berhalter said. “And when he’s in that type of mode, he’s just an unbelievable player, and that’s what I was most happy with today. He was relentless pressing, he just kept going and going and going, and then he’s so good on the ball, he can unbalance the team and he had an overall really strong performance.”

MIR WËLLE BLEIWE wat mir sinn, you’ll doubtlessly already know, is the national motto of Luxembourg, translating as “We want to stay what we are.”
It’s a statement of Luxembourg’s independence from its imperial neighbours, while also usefully serving as a contrived segue into talking about Stephen Kenny’s Republic of Ireland, who are still seeking a nation’s conviction having decided they definitely do not want to remain what they were.

Potential Kristoffer Ajer replacement Celtic must go for; CL experience; nicknamed "Pique"
March 27, 2021
With Kristoffer Ajer more than likely to leave Celtic, the club needs to look at long-term replacements.
So, why not a defender who is nicknamed “Pique” [Guineefoot]? One with Champions League experience? Most pertinently: one named Mo Camara?
Now, don’t worry. This Mo Camara doesn’t play for Burnley, it isn’t 2005, and Gordon Strachan isn’t in charge of signings any more. Mohamed Ali Camara is a 23-year-old Guinea international, lighting up Switzerland with Young Boys.
Subscribe to 67 Hail Hail TV now
A 6’3″ colossus, who plays centrally for the Swiss Champions, Camara has just one year left on his contract. The comparisons with Kristoffer Ajer, then, are a bit eerie. A commanding presence in the air, Camara combines the technical abilities of Ajer with upper-body strength and quick feet.

Coleman and Ireland defeated in opening qualifier

Coleman and Ireland defeated in opening qualifier
Lyndon Lloyd
Wednesday, 24 March, 2021
Seamus Coleman returned to international duty and captained the Republic of Ireland in Belgrade where they were beaten 3-2 by Serbia in their first Group A fixture of 2022 World Cup qualifying.
The Irish got off to an ideal start and gave boss Stephen Kenny hope for a first win when Alan Browne put them ahead in the 18th minute but Dusan Vlahovic equalised shortly before half-time.
The Serbs, with Ajax and former Southampton star Dusan Tadic in dominant form, then took the lead themselves through Aleksandar Mitrovic and the Fulham striker increased the hosts' lead later in the second half.

'The separation can no longer be avoided' - Leverkusen sack Bosz, hire Wolf

A 4-0 win over Cologne in mid-December saw Leverkusen go top of the Bundesliga, but their form has collapsed since, with just four wins in their subsequent 18 matches in all competitions.
That prolonged slump has taken in a 6-3 aggregate defeat to Young Boys in the Europa League, which followed a humiliating exit from the DFB-Pokal at the hands of fourth-tier Rot-Weiss Essen in early February.
Following the 3-0 weekend defeat to Hertha Berlin, a result that left Leverkusen sixth in the table, Bosz expressed confidence that he would remain in his post.
However, the club's board had other ideas.

Man City remain keen on Liverpool midfield target, claim respected source

Manchester City are monitoring Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Denis Zakaria ahead of a potential summer transfer, claims a report.
Sky Sportsclaim City are still tracking
Zakaria after making enquiries about him last summer.
Pep Guardiola is understood to be a fan of the 24-year-old Switzerland international, but an offer never materialised.
Instead City added two defenders in the form of Nathan Ake and Ruben Dias, while winger Ferran Torres also arrived.
But with Fernandinho’s contract up in the summer Guardiola will look to push through a midfielder signing.
Ismael Bennacer, Adrien Rabiot and Douglas Luiz have all been linked with the Premier League leaders, but Zakaria would appear to be at the top of the list. And Guardiola got a close up look at the player twice recently as City knocked out Monchengladbach over two legs in the Champions League.
