Two people, including a South African national, were arrested for allegedly smuggling drugs to New Zealand packed in spools of metallic yarn, the Narcotics Control Bureau said.Based on specific intelligence inputs, the NCB said its officers in Bengaluru Zonal Unit intercepted an outbound parcel at a courier centre in Bengaluru on March 11.The parcel was destined to New Zealand and on thorough examination of the consignment it was found to contain 50 spools of metallic yarn.Each spool was concealed with powdery contraband to the extent of 40 grams.

The total worth of the destroyed contraband is around Rs 2500 crore in the illicit market, said a senior Customs officer.

NCB Deputy Director General (South-Western Region) Mutha Ashok Jain said a total of six cases including Aryan Khan's case and 5 others of the Mumbai zone will be now investigated by teams from Delhi.

In a significant development, the Narcotics Control Bureau's controversial Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede was on Friday shifted out from the investigations into the sensational cruise ship party raid of October 2 in which Aryan Khan, son of Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan, was arrested.

This comes after the NCB said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) comprising officers from the Operations Branch of Narcotics Control Bureau Headquarters in New Delhi will take over a total of six cases, including the drugs on cruise case from NCB Mumbai Zonal Unit.
