The first two selections in the 2021 NFL draft are officially locked in.
The Jacksonville Jaguars will pick first and also likely Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence assuming he forgoes his senior season while the New York Jets earned the second overall pick. There is no consensus choice after Lawrence.
The Jaguars can thank the ol’ strength of schedule tiebreaker for their good fortune.
The next 16 spots will be decided after Sunday. Picks 19-through-32 will be determined by the playoffs.
The 10-5 Miami Dolphins currently hold the No. 3 overall pick thanks to the Laremy Tunsil deal with the Houston Texans in 2019.

Everyone who saw the 17-point underdogs inexplicably beat the Rams in Los Angeles on Sunday had the same thought immediately after the game.
“Man, even when the Jets win, they lose.”
That’s because the Jaguars now have a 71 percent chance of landing the No. 1 pick, according to ESPN’s FPI.
This changes things.
Mostly because Justin Fields’ recent struggles against Northwestern and Indiana killed the momentum he had earlier in the season, leaving Trevor Lawrence on the mountain top all alone.
Fields falls back into a group with Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, Mac Jones and Kyle Trask. All potential first rounders, but none in the same league as Lawrence as a pro prospect.

The biggest question during this draft season will be how teams judge the top prospects who chose to opt out due to COVID-19.
I currently have six of those players in my top 20.
Will they be docked because the most recent tape a scout can watch comes from 2019?
If two players are considered similar, does tie go to the player who played this season? Or will teams favor those who are fresher with less wear and tear on their bodies?
In the past, we’d get most of these answers at the NFL combine in Indianapolis, but it remains to be seen if we’ll even have a combine during this process.

Going into last weekend, I believed the Jets best opportunity for a victory this season was a home game against Las Vegas. The Raiders were a decent team who had just been embarrassed by Atlanta and now had to travel to the east coast.
It appeared I was right until defensive coordinator Gregg Williams fired on Monday inexplicably called an all-out blitz with a 28-24 lead and left his secondary vulnerable to Henry Ruggs with mere seconds on the clock.
Things only get harder from here. The Jets finish with two straight games on the west coast (Seattle and the L.A. Rams), a home game against a 9-3 Cleveland team who travels well and a road game with a New England team in the playoff hunt.
