Facing an undefeated Class 6A foe in their home opener Tuesday night, the Brownwood Lady Lions softball team came up on the short end of a 14-3, six-inning decision against the San Angelo Central Lady Cats.
“They put pressure on us from the first pitch,” said Lady Lions head coach Jessica Lynn, referring to a deep fly out to left field to start the contest. “We could feel that so it puts a lot of pressure on you. I felt like some innings we were OK and some innings we let it get to us. I never felt like we stopped fighting, they just took it to us, and they hit the ball hard. I knew it was going to be a tough one. There’s some areas we need to fix, we have some things we have to work on, but we were going to have to play our best game of the year so far and it didn’t work out that way.”
