Say What: The reign won't stop here – gold only whets Axelsen's appetite for more

PETALING JAYA: No one will forget the way Viktor Axelsen of Denmark celebrated his Olympic Games men’s singles gold-medal victory on Monday.
He wept like a baby. He hugged his coach Kenneth Jonassen. He went on to exchange his shirt with Chen Long of China and they briefly spoke in Mandarin.
It was an emotional moment as the 27-year-old Axelsen had put his years of preparation, blood, sweat and tears into that spectacular final show en route to beating defending champion Chen Long 21-15, 21-12 in 51 minutes, to become only the second Dane in 25 years after Poul-Erik Hoyer to win an Olympics badminton gold.

John Catlin: Targeting the World's top 50 - Articles

News
Monday, April 19, 2021
Four and a half years ago, John Catlin was contemplating whether professional golf was still for him. Now, he’s a three-time winner on the European Tour and targeting the top 50 in the Official World Golf Ranking.
Catlin’s route to the winner’s circle on the European Tour has been far from a conventional one.
The American is now known for carving his career out as a multiple winner on the Asian Tour before earning his status out in Europe, but before success came a time when he almost gave up entirely.
Back in 2016, Catlin was trying to split his time playing on both the Canadian and Asian Tours, and his game suffered as a result.

Player Blog: John Catlin - Articles - European Tour

Wednesday, February 24, 2021
In this week’s Player Blog presented by Enterprise Rent-A-Car, John Catlin talks about being inspired by Tiger, why choosing to play in Asia was the best decision he has made, and the influence of his coach.
I probably started thinking about playing professional golf for the first time when I watched Tiger Woods win the 2000 U.S. Open by 15 shots at Pebble Beach. I was around nine at the time, but I remember watching and just being amazed to see someone dominate the sport. I was already into golf because my dad had taken it up as a way to spend time with my older brother and eventually me, and it was a big part of our family. My brother is nine years older than me, so when he was 12 I think I was the only three-year-old out there for hours, but I loved it and loved to play with him.

Badminton: Back-to-back Malaysian tourneys to be held in April

Datuk Kenny Goh
PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Open and Malaysian Masters are set to be staged back-to-back next April as the Badminton World Federation (BWF) unveiled their revised tournament calendar which adopts a cluster system where possible.
The Malaysian Open will take place from March 31-April 4, followed by the Malaysian Masters from April 6-11.
The “Malaysia bubble” is one of three clusters confirmed together with the ones in Indonesia and Denmark.
The “Indonesia bubble” will be the Indonesian Masters (June 1-6) and Indonesian Open (June 8-13) while the Denmark Open (Oct 12-17) and Thomas Cup and Uber Cup Finals form the ‘Denmark bubble’.
