ROCKPORT, Texas — Mac’s Pit Barbecue in Rockport might be known for its chicken and brisket, but they’re also known for providing meals to those in need.
They have donated food for essential workers at grocery stores such as H-E-B and Walmart as well as to people distributing the COVID-19 vaccine, and a local church.
“We’re here to help and nobody needs to be left alone," Mac's owner Domingo Hernandez Jr. said. "It's hard when you think that you’re alone."

Hiding Behind Ladles

"For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?" Mark 8:36 (ESV)
I stood behind one more servers' table, peering into the eyes of a woman I'd never met. But I knew our experience would forever change my effectiveness in ministry. It's not a proud moment when you discover, after many years of Christian service, you really weren't serving in the name of Jesus.
Up until a few days before that fateful night, I thought I was ministering the Gospel by merely serving people's physical needs. Then God began asking me if I was just hiding behind the soup ladle, or was I truly giving those I served the full measure of what I had been given?

For the Least of These

The King will reply, “I tell you the truth, whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of Mine, you did for Me” (Matthew 25:40, NIV).
An unhealthy plague is sweeping across the nation. It’s not only COVID-19. It is also homelessness. Currently, an estimated half-million people are experiencing poverty and homelessness in the U. S. Many face hard times due to job loss, health issues, or poor life choices. Others struggle with addiction and regret while living on the streets.
However, many Christ-centered rescue missions are responding to the hurting. These ministries answer the desperate calls of homelessness by providing shelter, food, and the hope of the cross.

Durham 11-year-old brightens spirits at Urban Ministries with weekly snack bags

DURHAM, N.C. (WTVD) -- Addy Hamer attracts a big crowd on Sunday evenings at 5:45 p.m. when she hands out Ziploc bags packed with snacks to people who are homeless at Urban Ministries.
"I just like seeing people happy," Addy told ABC11. "When people are poor like this, I don't like seeing that, and I wish they could just be lucky like me."
The Lowe's Grove Middle School sixth-grader has given away more than 1,600 bags since last June.
"They say 'thank you' and I say 'you're welcome' and then some of them say 'you're doing a really great and you're helping us out a lot.' And so that just warms my heart," Addy said.

Air Force Family Flies by Faith

U.S Airman Amber enjoys her job at Vandenburgh Air Force Case in central California. As a single mom, raising two daughters on an E-4 salary isn’t easy.
“I did the best that I could with what I had. I did a lot of hoping and trusting God that things would be provided,” Amber said.
Amber’s finances got even tighter when she took in her two sisters when the pandemic hit. Their mom had cancer and was considered high risk for infection.
Amber says, “The stress of having my two sisters going out places as things started to open up, she couldn't risk having them to come back and give her Covid.”
