Maison Pierre Marcolini opens in Harrods' new Chocolate Hall

Maison Pierre Marcolini opens in Harrods' new Chocolate Hall
By Anthony Myers
The Knightsbridge department store is opening a new ‘theatre of chocolate’ this week to celebrate its 150-year history with chocolate.
Designed by the award-winning David Collins Studio, the same design team behind the wider Harrods' Food Hall transformation, the ground-floor space has been restored and preserved using the finest materials to reflect the original Edwardian architecture renewed in a sustainable way.
Maison Pierre Marcolini will be showcasing its chocolate collection and is the only counter serving macarons, a Harrods bestseller.
Created especially for the opening, the chocolatier, recently named  ‘Best Pastry Chef in the World’ at the ‘World Pastry Stars 2020’, has designed an exclusive Crème Brûlée macaron. The new recipe from Pierre Marcolini was chosen over the classical chocolate ganache, featuring a creamy centre of crème brûlée using white chocolate, to let the entire hall fill with vanilla flavour.

Pierre Marcolini, who was recently awarded the prize for ‘Best Pastry Chef in the World’, has collaborated with Belgian suppliers to bring natural colour to his new range of Valentine’s Chocolates.
The famed chocolatier said he is revising his tones with a 100% natural technique, without additives to integrate powders sourced from nature into signature chocolate Hearts to colour them naturally.
The new Pierre Marcolini Maison palette consists of:
Red = Coeur Framboise: natural raspberry powder
Caramel = Coeur Caramel: natural “dragon fruit” powder
Green = Coeur Pistachio: a natural herbal touch
