Premier League TV deal may keep the wolves from the door but Sky and BT Group Plc’s bundle model is facing existential threat
As Sky and BT roll over their Premier League deals the online streamers are lurking with intent.
Sky and BT Group PLC’s (LON:BT.A) behind closed doors deal for Premier League broadcast rights signals strongly one thing, time is running out for their telecoms-and-TV bundling business models.
Moreover, for customers there’s even a faint hope that the days of £75 per month subscription fees may also be numbered.
The Premier League accepted a deal to ‘roll-over’ its existing UK rights deals with Sky, BT Sports and Amazon amidst the economic perils of the pandemic and a zeitgeist of football fan unrest.
The Lightweight world title clash between Teofimo Lopez and George Kambosos Jr headlines a stacked card in Miami on June 19
Teofimo Lopez’s Lightweight world title showdown with George Kambosos Jr has moved to June 19 at loanDepot park in Miami, Florida on Triller pay-per-view.
WBA ‘Super’, IBF, WBO and WBC Franchise champion, Lopez (16-0, 12 KOs) was set to do battle with mandatory challenger, Kambosos Jr (19-0, 10 KOs) on June 5, after holding a press conference last month to announce their clash.
However, it has now been switched to June 19 at the home of Miami Marlins, avoiding a clash with the return of former undefeated pound-for-pound star Floyd Mayweather who meets YouTuber and 0-1 boxer, Logan Paul in an exhibition on June 6 on SHOWTIME pay-per-view, as well as ensuring the bout will be at 100% capacity instead of at 25%.

After 18 months out of the ring Scott Fitzgerald returned with aplomb this month with a third round stoppage of Frenchman Gregory Trenel in Manchester, to remain unbeaten in 15 pro fights, including nine KOs.
“I’ve got my head together and I’m back in a good place now,” said fellow Prestonian Scott.
Scot is eyeing Super-Welterweight division success in 2021 against potential former opponents Ted Cheeseman and Anthony Fowler under The Eddie Hearn Matchroom stable.
Prior to his supermiddleweight win over Trenel his last fight was when outpointing Cheeseman at the Newcastle Arena in October 2019 to win the British Super-Welterweight Title.
The pair will fight for the WBA bantamweight title this July.
Rachel Ball has said that she could knock out Shannon Courtenay when the pair of them fight for the WBA bantamweight this summer in a rematch.
Courtenay had an undefeated record until she met Ball last August as part of Eddie Hearn s Matchroom Fight Camp series. Ball has suffered from a bout of Covid-19 and is now ready to fight in January, aiming to secure the WBA belt. Ball has warned that Shannon Courtenay could hit the canvas again when they renew their fiery rivalry in a rematch for the WBA bantamweight belt this summer.
