According to Variety, after a pretty competitive bidding war, NBCUniversal-backed producer
Working Title Television was able to snatch up the rights to Abrams’ new novel and plans to adapt it as a television series.

Tuesday, the legal thriller, which follows a Supreme Court justice whose descent into a coma causes chaos not only in the court but also across the country, was published by Penguin Random House.

The 47-year-old activist’s latest book, legal thriller “When Justice Sleeps”, is now being adapted for a television series with NBC Universal, according to Deadline.

“When Justice Sleeps” was actually just published today and centers on Avery Keene, a brilliant young law clerk for the legendary Justice Howard Wynn, who is doing her best to hold her life together; excelling in an arduous job with the court while also dealing with a troubled family.
When the shocking news breaks that Wynn – the cantankerous swing vote on many current high-profile cases – has slipped into a coma, Avery’s life turns upside down. She is immediately notified that Wynn has left instructions for her to serve as his legal guardian and power of attorney.

The Royal Shakespeare Company’s West End production of
Matilda The Musical has announced that it will return to the Cambridge Theatre from 16 September 2021. Seen by more than 10 million people across more than 90 cities worldwide, this autumn marks 10 years since the multi-award-winning show opened in the West End. Taylour Paige is to star in the Toxic Avenger reboot.
The 30-year-old actress has been tapped to play the female lead in a reimagining of the 1984 superhero splatter flick of the same name.
Macon Blair is on board to write and direct the new film with Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz – who created the original – involved as producers for Troma Entertainment.
Peter Dinklage has been cast at the male lead in the flick, a man who is disfigured when he is pushed into a vat of toxic waste. He is transformed into a mutant freak but becomes an underdog hero as he races to save his son, his friends and his community from forces of corruption and greed.
