A brush fire ignited Thursday afternoon in Riverside County, spreading across 30 acres in two hours and prompting authorities to order some residents to evacuate.
The blaze, dubbed the Jurupa fire, was reported at 2:16 p.m. near Van Buren Boulevard and Jurupa Road in Jurupa Valley, a city in northwestern Riverside County. The fire was initially burning a quarter of an acre in a wash-type area, said April Newman, a public information officer for the Riverside County Fire Department.
By 4 p.m., the fire had grown to about 30 acres, burning grass, weeds and other dry vegetation in the wash, Newman said.
Two displaced following attic fire in Palm Desert, Cal Fire says
Two adults were displaced after a fire broke out in their Palm Desert home Wednesday night, according to Cal Fire.
The residential structure fire was reported on the 45800 block of Del Coronado Drive at 9:20 p.m. The fire, already established in the attic, was showing through the roof of the 2,000-square-foot single-story structure, according to officials.
The fire was contained at 9:54 p.m., but fire personnel planned to stay in the area until about midnight.
No injuries were reported, according to April Newman, public information officer with the agency. The cause of the fire is undetermined and under investigation, she said.

WILDOMAR, CA A skydiver whose parachute got stuck in Wildomar power lines was rescued by Southern California Edison and Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department crews.
The incident was reported at 11:11 a.m. Tuesday at Mission Trail and Vine Street.
The skydiver, whose identity was not available, was out of Skydive Elsinore and was dangling about 30 feet off the ground after getting caught up in the lines, according to Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesperson April Newman.
