Christmas In July A Success In Community Spirit
A view of center court at Penn Central Mall during Christmas in July and the vendor show.
Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Oskaloosa Main Street was all set to enjoy a Saturday in the park for Christmas in July, but Mother Nature had other plans and drove the party indoors to the Penn Central Mall.
Jessica Reuter, Oskaloosa Main Street Director, explained that the decision to move indoors wasn’t taken lightly. Still, with an already soggy downtown, the promise of rain made that decision easier to move indoors.
Christmas in July is a downtown event that helps raise funds for Oskaloosa’s ‘Painting With Lights’ program. The goal is to help keep the program going, and to also expand it one day, hopefully.

GENK, BELGIUM – In the world of television, where success can vanish in the blink of any eye, Wheel of Fortune stands out as a paradigm of longevity. Debuting in Hollywood 46 years ago, the word puzzle quiz show, is the longest-running syndicated series in US history. The Belgian edition Het Rad van Fortuin, has been around almost as long, first appearing in 1976, only a year after its American counterpart.
Like all long-running “success stories,” the Wheel of Fortune franchise has survived (and thrived!), thanks to its ability to adapt and change, a quality that has enabled it to appeal to new generations of fans without losing their parents. This renewal process was very much in evidence in the 2020 edition of the Belgian show, which featured a sleek new set designed by Deusjevoo.

For many people, natural preserves can be intimidating after dark, particularly a place such as the Everglades. But for photographer Matt Stock, nighttime is when natural spaces truly come to life.
Stock s upcoming exhibit Painting With Light, which features a series of hyper-realistic photographs shot in several landscapes, will be on view at the Palm Beach Photographic Centre from Thursday to Jan. 30. The public also will be able to attend the exhibit’s virtual opening from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Photographic Centre President and CEO Fatima NeJame said she was first drawn to Stock’s nighttime photography years ago, when he was the center s artist-in-residence for two summers in 2015 and 2016.
