India's official Covid-19 death toll nowhere close to real extent of damage: Owaisi | India News

HYDERABAD: AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday alleged that India's death toll from Covid-19 is "nowhere close to the real extent of damage" and accused the Centre of botching up the actual number of casualties.
He stated that families who have lost a dear one deserve to be counted. "This piece reiterates what I've been saying: India's official death toll from #covid is nowhere close to real extent of damage. How long will govt botch numbers to make itself feel good? Families who have lost a dear one deserve to be counted. This piece also quotes@YRDeshmukh," tweeted Owaisi.

Lockdown extended in Telangana up to June 9; relaxation from 6am to 1pm | Hyderabad News

For those who go out to purchase groceries and finish off their work by 1pm, a grace period of one hour i.e. up to 2pm would be given. But the lock down would be strictly implemented from 2pm to 6am the next day, the Cabinet decided.
Municipal minister KT Rama Rao tweeted that the cabinet meeting also consented for limited revival of economic activity. The guidelines will be issued soon. Students going overseas for higher education will be given vaccination on priority so they can travel safely.
KTR stated that the cabinet has resolved to establish seven medical colleges at Mahbubabad, Sangareddy, Jagtial, Nagar Kurnool, Wanaparthy, Kothagudem and Mancherial. Prior to the formation of Telangana state, only four government medical colleges were there in the undivided state. From 2014 to 2018, CM KCR has established five and now seven more to come up, he added.

Hours ahead of the State Cabinet’s decision on the lockdown on Sunday, Hyderabad parliamentarian Asaduddin Owaisi opposed its extension, arguing that the only solution to combat the pandemic was universal vaccination.
Taking to Twitter, Mr Owaisi stated that a lockdown may appear as an aggressive strategy take on the pandemic, but it actually destroys the lives of the poor. He further stated that COVID cases were coming down before the lockdown came into effect on May 12, indicating that a lockdown did not help curb the number of cases.
“The only long-term solution is universal vaccination. Lockdowns give a cruel choice to the poor: poverty, police atrocities or pandemic. They make a public health crisis into a law and order problem. They are neither a scientific nor a humanitarian strategy,” he tweeted, explaining that COVID-19 can be fought against by educating people about wearing a mask and social distancing. He also said that the government could tweak policies to ‘encourage and enable such lifestyle change’.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], March 13 (ANI): BJP leader NV Subhash has called AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi "chameleons" and said he changes colors according to circumstances.
"The way Owaisi forged an alliance with TTV Dhinakaran's Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) for Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, BJP also stitched an alliance with AIADMK, AIMIM chief should take back his word 'slave' as it would hurt the sentiments, people of Tamil Nadu," Subhash said.
The BJP leader said former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was a charismatic leader in Dravidian politics and the AIADMK will be her party forever.
