Carr Center Cake Auction Comes to an End
MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Today concluded the 35th Annual Carr Center Cake Auction at the Secrest Auditorium.
Many volunteers devoted their time into this year’s cake auction. Phone lines and text messages were constantly coming in throughout the day. Six volunteer workers were on the phones taking bids, and up to five people were assisting with ‘text to bid.’ This is the second year that the auction has used ‘text to bid,’ which has helped make the auction run smoother.
“It kind of spreads out the bids and gives people a more convenient way to bid,” Carr Center executive director Becky Clawson said.

Carr Center kicks off Cake Auction
MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Today kicked off the 35th Annual Carr Center Cake Auction.
The mayor’s cake started the auction out with a cake certificate and an incentive of a courthouse print.
“The mayor himself is delivering donuts to the winner of that cake, which was Quality Care Partners… Hague Water went for about $340, their entry just now about five minutes ago. That included a $200 Bee Clean car wash gift certificate and 10 bags of salt for your water softener, so that was a really popular one,” Carr Center executive director Becky Clawson said.

Carr Center Cake Auction Starts Wednesday

Due to Covid precautions this year’s auction will be closed to the public and will be moved from its’ usual location at Colony Square Mall to Secrest Auditorium. Because of the new restrictions organizers have moved to an online format to share the cakes available for auction.
