Top books, video, and audiobooks for children and young adults revealed at ALA Midwinter Virtual January 25, 2021
On January 25, the American Library Association (ALA) announced the top books, digital media, video, and audiobooks for children and young adults including the Caldecott, Coretta Scott King, Newbery, and Printz awards at its Midwinter Meeting & Exhibits taking place virtually from Chicago.

John Newbery Medal for the most outstanding contribution to children’s literature:
When You Trap a Tiger, written by Tae Keller, is the 2021 Newbery Medal winner. The book is published by Random House Children’s Books, a division of Penguin Random House.
CHICAGO – The Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) , a division of the American Library Association (ALA), selected five books as finalists for the 2021William C. Morris Award , which honors the year’s best books written for young adults by a previously unpublished author. YALSA will name the 2021 award winner virtually at the Youth Media Awards on January 25, 2021, during the American Library Association’s virtual Midwinter Meeting . Registration is open now through January 15, 2021. The 2021 finalists are: “Black Girl Unlimited: The Remarkable Story of a Teenage Wizard,” written by Echo Brown published by Christy Ottaviano Books/Henry Holt and Co.
