Fork Fest Announces June Date
Utah County s Fork Fest was one of the only Utah festivals to go on as planned last year, though they did, of course, adjust for social distancing and other COVID precautions. And as for 2021, the Harrington Center- and Velour-presented event is back this year on June 19 at Art Dye Park, and they ve already got a lot worth looking forward to. For starters, iDKHOW (short for I Don t Know How But They Found Me) will headline. The local band features the notable, SLC-famous artist Dallon Weekes, who before joining Panic! At The Disco s lineup for a few years, was at the center of the popular local band The Brobecks. Kin Lodge = Volcano Choir + Phoebe Bridgers + Iron & Wine
There are some songs that just make you see the world differently. Through poignant lyricism and subtle instrumentation, Kin Lodge’s new track, “Snakeroot,” paints sorrowful vignettes highlighting the effects of seemingly insignificant details in life. The lyrics may seem nonsensical superficially, but the meaning is found on a deeper, more soulful level. The track starts softly, with dreamy keys echoing next to vocals which grow with urgency. Kin Lodge slowly brings more instruments into prominence with every verse, from careful horns to delicate percussion and a discreet, softly-plucked banjo. After showing restraint, “Snakeroot” culminates in a roaring, overdriven guitar passage that makes you want to scream into the sky. With this track, Kin Lodge has created a gorgeous catharsis that never leaves you.
Mr Frain became a part-time Roadcraft instructor after retirement from the service seven years ago to pass on his lifesaving skills and knowledge to road users. With the support of a State Government grant worth almost $20,000, Mr Frain and his Kin Kin Lodge members have teamed up with Roadcraft in Gympie to help educate the next generation of road users. In 2016 Roadcraft opened its bicycle safety track with the help of $76,000 donation from the local Masons. Mr Frain said thanks to the latest funding, 570 primary school students had undertaken a hands-on program learning how to behave safely around cars and buses, as a pedestrian or as a bike rider.
