Bucks County adds ballot drop box, but advocates say more needed Bucks County advocates for expanding mail-in drop box locations say a recent change is encouraging but still a very small step in improving access. The Bucks County Board of Elections voted 2-1 on Monday to add a drop box location at the Bucks County Free Library Yardley-Makefield branch in Lower Makefield for the May 18 primary. The library adds to the county s previous drop boxes at its election offices in Doylestown, Levittown and Quakertown. Election board member and County Commissioner Gene DiGirolamo said he opposed the increase over a number of logistical concerns and a lack of guidance or mandates from the state legislature. ....

The traffic improvements are part of the $7 million commitment by developers at the recently approved Prickett Preserve at Edgewood redevelopment. Earlier this month, Lower Makefield officials approved a conditional use application for the project that included a Wegmans, 200 apartments, and several retail and dining spots to the 36-acre property on Stony Hill Road. Township residents, during a series of public meetings, raised concerns about the traffic impact of the housing and large grocery store on the already busy intersection and nearby roads, including Stony Hill, which is home to popular Shady Brook Farms that draws big crowds during seasonal operations. ....

Nearly 2,000 new coronavirus cases (1,977) were reported in Bucks County last week, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Health. That s a 7-percent increase over the previous week and brought the county s case total to 55,980 since the pandemic began. Last week also saw 20 new deaths attributed to COVID in Bucks County. That s the most since February, and brings the county s total to 1,212. ....
