Covid-19 cases getting controlled

Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, DOH 7 spokesperson, said the Cebu private CCUR is at 31.2 percent as of April 1, 2021; this is significantly within the 60 percent “safe level.” “(Covid-19) cases are getting controlled,” she told SunStar Cebu in a text message on Saturday, April 3. As of April 1, only 270 of the total allotted Covid beds in private hospitals in Cebu are occupied while a total of 595 beds remain available. This is even better than the 35.8 percent CCUR recorded on March 26, before the Holy Week, when 310 beds were occupied and 555 beds were available.

Only two parents, however, showed up and quoting a report from the local police, Sinas said the four parents were taken on Sunday by organizers of communist front groups who introduced themselves as police officers.

The Philippine National Police s Public Information Office on Thursday said the charges filed against the seven were kidnapping, child exploitation, and human trafficking. The respondents were presented for inquest proceedings before the Provincial Prosecutor s Office of Davao del Norte at the Hall of Justice, Capitol Site, Mankilam, Tagum City. This was done via video teleconference from the Police Regional Office in Camp Osmeña, Cebu City.

Ildrebrandi Usana, spokesman of the Philippine National Police (PNP), said those charged were presented for Inquest proceedings before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office of Davao del Norte at the Hall of Justice, Capitol Site, Mankilam, Tagum City via video conference. Those charged were two officials (datu) of the Manobo tribe, two teachers and three adult Lumad students, one of them was Chad Booc, a Computer Science of University of the Philippines- Diliman who graduated cum laude but chose to be a volunteer teacher for lumad students. Among the charges slapped against them were violation of Article 267 of the Revised Penal Code (Kidnapping with Serious Illegal Detention), violation of Section 10 of the Republic Ac 7610 and Violation of Sections 4i, 4j, 4k and Section 9 of RA 9208 as amended by RA 10364 (Human Trafficking).
