Cape Coral Community Foundation honors leaders who have influenced and made significant contributions to improving the lives of residents who live and work in Lee County.
If you have never watched The Lee County Honors, an annual television broadcast for our region’s leading philanthropists and humanitarians, you need to tune in to the one hosted by the Cape Coral Community Foundation. Be prepared to be amazed by Lee County’s community generosity.
The heartwarming stories of giving back are inspiring. The television program is an opportunity for residents to witness generosity and kind acts of community service. There are so many generous givers who share testimonies of why they give to support seniors, arts, animals, veterans, education, and families in need. Southwest Florida is a generous regional community.
Fort Myers Mayor Kevin Anderson is broadening his effort to move homeless people living in tents at Lions Park next to Lee Memorial Hospital.
It will be a second attempt to win approval for a plan that would move them to a parcel owned by the Salvation Army in the rear of its Edison Avenue complex.
Cape Coral Council member Jennifer Nelson plans to speak to the Fort Myers council members on Anderson s proposal and on the need for homeless people to have access to services when housing is found for them. There isn’t a long-term sustainable solution where they can kind of learn how to relive, whether that’s getting sober from drugs or alcohol or whether that’s having some sort of mental issues such as bipolar or they’re not understanding how to take the medication, Nelson told a Cape Coral council workshop.
