COLFAX An anonymous tip last week led Grant Parish Sheriff s animal control officers to a Pollock home where animals had been stuffed into cages and starved by a woman who officials say got the animals through Facebook ads offering free pets.
Sheriff Steven McCain announced the June 4 arrest of Destiny Louise Dunn, 27, at a press conference on Wednesday. He said the case illustrates why people should not offer pets for free or should at least check on those who offer to take the animals.
He called it one of the most bizarre cases that we ve seen.
Dunn, who already has bonded out of the Grant Parish Detention Center, was arrested on four counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, eight counts of cruelty to animals and three counts of failure to dispose of animal carcasses.
