Toolkit case: Nikita Jacob’s bail plea on March 9

New Delhi, Mar 2: A Delhi Court on Tuesday said that it will hear Mumbai-based activist lawyer Nikita Jacob s anticipatory bail plea on March 9, a day before her protection from arrest ends in connection with the Toolkit case related to the farmers agitation.
Additional Sessions Judge Dharmender Rana adjourned the matter after he was apprised by the Delhi Police that they need more time to file a comprehensive reply to the application and that it be kept with a similar plea by co-accused Shantanu Muluk on March 9.
On February 17, Bombay High Court had granted three weeks transit anticipatory bail to Jacob with a direction to approach the court concerned in Delhi, where the case is lodged. Her protection from arrest ends on March 10.
UP villagers clash with police after teenage Dalit girl s body found in field

Aligarh, Mar 1: The body of a 16-year-old Dalit girl was found in a field in the Akrabad area here, following which villagers clashed with police and indulged in stone-pelting, police said on Monday.
The girl had gone to the fields Sunday afternoon to collect fodder for cattle but did not return.
Later, her body was found in a field when her family members started searching for her, they said Police said prima facie it appeared that she was strangled.
As the news spread, irate villagers pelted stones at a police party which was trying to take the body for post-mortem, they said.
After the warrant against her, the Mumbai-based lawyer moved the High Court and sought interim relief against police action in the matter. The case will be heard by Justice PD Naik s bench.
According to Delhi Police, Disha, along with the help of lawyer Nikita Jacob and engineer Shantanu Mallick, played key roles in the circulation of the document. The police also claim that the group worked with the pro-Khalistan outfit Poetic Justice Foundation.
