As the COVID-19 vaccines continue to roll out, the Los Angeles Philharmonic tides us over with the second season of its “Sound/Stage” series filmed in an empty Hollywood Bowl. The L.A. Phil’s series of socially-distanced concerts filmed at the Hollywood Bowl returns with pianists Yuja Wang and David Fung performing the kid-friendly Saint-Saëns favorite “The Carnival of the Animals.” Also in the program: Animated folk tales narrated by students involved in El Sistema music programs around the world. The Stay Home and Read a Book Ball
The Library Foundation of Los Angeles holds the 33rd edition of its nonevent that asks guests to stay home, read a book and have a ball any way they see fit. Join chair Claudia Rankine and honorary chairs Misty Copeland, Valeria Luiselli, Michelle Tea and Charles Yu in raising funds for the LAPL s free virtual programming, which has expanded during the pandemic.

This is an audio production of Suntree s best-selling, award winning book Sacred Sites: The Secret History of Southern California (Univ. of Nebraska Press).
Audio clips from the Theater Project will be presented, including an audio-visual portrait of the Los Angeles River and the Ballona Wetlands read by Susan Suntree; and an audio clip from Book Two (Indigenous Myths and Songs) read by Native American actor, Kalani Queypo (Blackfeet, Native Hawaiian).
