2021 Trussville City Fest details announced

From The Tribune staff reports TRUSSVILLE The 2021 Trussville City Fest Committee has announced this year’s official theme and preliminary plans for the city’s premier community event. Trussville City Fest 2021: Better Together will celebrate the reuniting of families and friends following a year of pandemic restrictions and distancing. Presenting sponsor for the event is the Trussville City Schools Foundation. Scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11, the festivities will begin with a 20th anniversary observance of the 2001 attack on America at the Veteran’s Memorial at 9 a.m. The city’s new Veterans Committee, led by Chad Carroll, is organizing the ceremony.

Trussville Chamber to co-host Community Shred Day

By June Mathews TRUSSVILLE The Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce is teaming up with BBB Serving Central & South Alabama to host a Community Shred Day in the parking lot of the Trussville Civic Center on Friday, April 30, from 9:00 a.m. until 1 p.m. The service is free and made possible in cooperation with the city of Trussville, al.com, The Trussville Tribune, and Gone for Good, a document destruction and e-waste company founded by United Ability. Participants are limited to two bags or boxes of paper documents. (No electronics will be accepted at this event.) Shredding will take place onsite, and the material will then be disposed of in a secure manner.

Trussville Chamber and library team up for job fair

From The Tribune staff reports TRUSSVILLE Preparations are underway for the 2021 Trussville Job Fair, set for Thursday, March 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Trussville Public Library. Presenting sponsor for the event is Darrell Walker Workforce. “Our 2020 job fair was canceled due to COVID-19, but our first job fair in 2019 was a huge success, and we’re expecting this one to be even better,” said June Mathews, executive director of the Trussville Area Chamber of Commerce. “A lot of people are hunting jobs right now, and this is a great way to connect them with employers.” The job fair marks the first time the chamber has joined with the Trussville Public Library in putting together an event, and the partnership, said Mathews, is taking things to a whole new level.
